| Waylen Bay Scout Hall, Applecross, Western Australia. To synchronise with the moment of Global Equinox, 7.34pm September 23rd, 1999. Location Details: The Waylen Bay Sea Scout Group in Perth, Western Australia, is situated on the banks of the Swan River at Applecross, and is made up of an energetic and dynamic group of Leaders and Scouts of all ages. Geoff was the Group Quartermaster at the time of Wrinkle 8. At the moment of Global Equinox, he had to be at the Scout Hall, sorting out tents and camping gear, so it seemed the ideal opportunity to try out a different sort of panorama, where the people present were main the focus. It was a lively little shoot, as you can well imagine. The Scouts were engaged in a very traditional Scout activity: Tying Knots With Ropes. However, as these particular young people rarely sit still for long, this panorama is a bit deceptive. There appear to be several sets of twins present, a set of triplets and a set of quadruplets as well. In fact, we do have one set of triplets in the group, but none of them appeared more than twice in the scene. Confusing? There's more. Several Leaders mysteriously vanished from the pano, along with about half the remaining scouts. Guess they were on the move too much to be captured. One conclusion: the scouts you see pictured here are probably the main extroverts of the group. The other conclusion: these are mostly the younger scouts, so perhaps the older scouts, in their early teens, were more camera-shy. Tech Specs: We used a Canon EOS 620 with a Sigma 17-35mm AF lens, mounted onto a Kaidan QuickPan Magnum Head and Manfrotto Tripod. Panorama stitched with The VR Worx. |
